GeoffreyHUTCHINSON(76) Blyth

Geoffrey (Geoff) born to Joyce and Ted in Wallsend, peacefully passed away at home in Blyth on 5th November 2025.

Treasured husband to Jinine and proud father, Geoff lived a full and blessed life, living the dream as an outstanding musician and educator. He transformed the face of drum set and percussion teaching in the North East, inspiring, motivating and teaching hundreds of students to believe in themselves and follow their musical aspirations.

Providing opportunities and mentoring countless educators to continue passing the message and skills of excellence to 'improve the drummers lot'. Geoff taught in North Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle University from 1987 until 2025, and his students are now living their dreams globally. His family and the wider community are devasted and his absence will lead a lasting void.

A service will be held at St Mary the Virgin, Horton. 1 Horton Road, Blyth, NE24 4HG on Tuesday 25th November, at 1.30pm

I first met Geoff in 1977introduced by my late husband Les and was told by him,I was going to meet one of the 'finest drummers',I then had the pleasure of hearing him play at 'Tiffany's ' and he certainly lived up to this accolade,a humble musician who was truly gifted. I'm glad I had the opportunity to tell him personally a few years back and as usual he accepted the compliment graciously. My thoughts today are with his family and send our sincere condolences to them . from Lynne and Sarah .
